John Seifert Bonewitz, (1/12/1840-12/27/1934) Buried Mentone, Ind. 
m. lst Mary Jane Showalter, Aug. 29, 1861 (2/6/1843-4/26/1871) 
John was in the Civil War. He was listed as a farmer near North 
Manchester, Indiana, in the 1870 census. According to the census 
report, Mary Jane was born in Ohio and their two children were 
born in Iowa. John lived in Mentone 24 years before he died. 
   1. Minnie Alice Bonewitz, (4/19/1865-8/22/1899)
      Minnie was crippled and did not marry. Born Fairfield, Iowa. 
   2. Lawrence Wright Bonawitz, (11/16/1867-7/21/1956) Born Fairfield. 
      m. Pattie Webb Robinson, March 10, 1898 (5/25/1875-9/7/1961) 
      Lawrence was a station agent for Great Northern Railroad for 
      nearly forty years, mostly in North Dakota, before retiring 
      in Washington State. He and Pattie are in Tacoma Mausoleum. 
         1. Helen Margret Bonawitz, born October 22, 1905. 
            m. George H. Schwarz, October 30, 1931. They live in Tacoma.

         2. Lawrence William Bonawitz, born September 7, 1908. 
            m. Kathryn Elizabeth Conrad, October 29, 1932. 
            Lawrence changed the spelling of his name to "Bonawits". 
            He operated a small manufacturing business in Iowa for 
            several years, returning to Tacoma in 1953. He entered 
            the real estate business and now does real estate appraising 
            only. Helen and Lawrence were born at Rolla, North Dakota. 
               1. Janet Kay Bonawits, born May 6, 1938. 
                  m. Dr. Francis Arne Meekin, November 28, 1964. They live at Spokane.
                     1. Kirk Francis Meekin, born November 15, 1965.
                     2. Brian Thomas Meekin, born February 22, 1967.
John married 2nd Elizabeth -------. 
There were no children to this marriage.
John married 3rd Lydia Newman. She outlived him. Ho children.
